Packaging Options

There are a variety of packaging options for fresh fruit from Kandahar.  Below are the current options for packaging fresh pomegranates.

Corrugated box with paper packing.  Box dimensions are 5.5" x 11.5" x 15.5".  4.5kg.  Fruit is packed in a single layer.  This box can be stacked 9 high and is designed to fit on wooden palates.  This box is suitable for refrigerated and non-refrigerated shipments.  The box is available from Kagaz Packaging, India, grapage_nsk@sancharnet.in or +91 253 2469951

Corrugated box with plastic packaging.  This box is suitable for

refrigerated and non-refrigerated shipments.  Box cost is

Wood crate with straw and paper packing. Fruit is packed on multiple layers. 

These boxes are assembled at the harvest location by a carpenter nailing the

parts together.  This box is only suitable for non-refrigerated shipments.  This

box is available in all major growing regions of Afghanistan.
